South Berwick Conservation Commission Minutes -12-19-07, 7:30pm

Present: Pat Robinson, Cari Quarter, Greg Hellyer, John Stirling

Next Meeting: 1/16/08 7:30pm at Town Hall

Minutes-        October- Reviewed and Accepted. Motion from Pat, John 2nd, All approve.
                No quorum on 8/15 or 11/14, no minutes to approve.

Mail-  None.

New Business-
        Earth Day-April 22, 2008.  We will push it as a town clean-up day.  Look to get schools and other children's groups involved as it gets closer.  Get in touch with Eliot to co-sponsor through school fliers.
        Well Water Testing- Demers Lab will do this.  Pat will have more info next mtg.
        Quamphegan Deadline-January is deadline. We should include Water Testing info, Woods in Backyard info, Earth Day/Cleanup Day info.      
        MACC Mtg.-Greg attended.  Seemed like many familiar themes/issues uniting Maine.
        Grow Smart Summit- Greg attended.  Addressed how to be smart about growth in ME.
        
Old Business-

        Vernal Pool Teacher's Workshop- 4 Teachers are interested at Great Works School.  Cari is going ahead with writing the curriculum.
        Woods in Backyard- Cari is waiting to hear from Kevin Doran.  Goal- 4 consecutive Tuesdays from Feb 26th - March 18th.  Cari will bring a copy of this brochure to next meeting.
        Salmon Falls River Greenbelt Plan-  Cari will edit the hard copy for the January meeting.
        Bennett Rd. Parcel-  Workshop only discussed the change of the ordinance to allow for tax-acquired parcels to be allowed to be auctioned off.
        Impact Fee/Open Space Plan and Mission Statement-No News. Planning Board has it.
        Management Plan- Greg will get in touch with Jean to walk an use GPS to record the site location.
        Maps- We have it on disk and on Greg's computer.

Other:
Southern Maine Regional Storm Water Phase II-  No News. Voss signs- John will do Town Forest.  Pat and Cari will do Hickory Lane area.

Mt. A Steering Committee-  Greg passed out the 2007 Summary.


Budget- We need to start planning next years budget.
           MACC is asking $150/year

Planning Board-         Tatnic Hills subdivision, Boyd's Corner Rd (next to Brookwood subdivision)- Approved.  Conservation areas in individual deeds.  This includes signage on the property indicating conserved land.
                        Witchtrot Hills is  on the PB agenda again.

Salmon Falls Cleanup- We need to get on the river this spring to remove some debris that is collecting.
