The 2009 Property Tax and Rent Refund Application period has opened. This year the state is not sending forms to Town Hall. If you are interested in obtaining an application, there are three options.
2. Call the forms line at 207-624-7894 (leave your name and mailing address)
3. Write to Maine Revenue Services, SHS 24, Augusta, ME 04333-0024
You may qualify for a refund up to $1,600 if:
You do not have a spouse or dependent(s) and your 2008 household income was $61,400 or less; or
You have a spouse or dependent(s) and your 2008 household income was $81,850 or less
AND
Your 2008 property tax was more than 4% of your 2008 household income; or,
The rent you paid in 2008 was more than 20% of your 2008 household income.
Note: Low-income Seniors do not need to meet these requirements.
Applications must be filed by June 1, 2010.
