BOARD OF ASSESSORS
OCTOBER 23, 2006
Chairman Suzanne Roberge called the meeting to order at 8:30pm. Councilors present included Robert Gagne, Richard Clough, Michelle Kareckas, and Norma Tutelian. Town Manager Jeffrey A. Grossman and Assessing Agent Rosann Maurice were also in attendance.
Ms. Maurice explained to the Board that Municipal Valuation Return is due to the State by November 1st.
Mr. Clough expressed his concern that there is $80,000,000 worth of exempt properties in town. He recommended looking into the Payment In Lieu Of Taxes.
Ms. Maurice explained that the schools, including Berwick Academy, make up a large portion of the exempt properties.
On a motion by Mr. Clough, seconded by Mrs. Tutelian, it was unanimously voted to sign the 2006 Municipal Valuation Return.
On a motion by Mr. Gagne, seconded by Mr. Clough, it was unanimously voted to adjourn the meeting at 8:32pm.
